LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The Louisiana men's basketball team started their 2024-25 recruiting class with a bang, signing Jeremiah Evans out of Shreveport, Louisiana. Evans, a 6-8 power forward, is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and a three-star by 247 and Rivals.
Evans is the third-ranked player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 35 power forward in this year's recruiting class per ESPN.
A Southwood High School rebounding machine, Evans was just named the Geaux Preps Player of the Week after averaging 30.0 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 6.0 blocks while going 3-0 for the week on Tuesday. That included a 30-point, 16-rebound, 7-block performance in a win over Natchitoches Central, the No. 2 ranked team in the state. He recorded over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds before the end of his junior season.
"Jeremiah is a gifted inside player," said head coach Bob Marlin. "He continues to improve every time he steps onto the court. He had a terrific junior year and now he's having a great senior year. He plays above the rim and fills a major need for our team."
