Barnes and Hill Lead the Way in Cajuns’ Red and White Scrimmage

Louisiana returns to E.K. Long on Thursday, August 17 for exhibition match with Tulane
LAFAYETTE – Kara Barnes led all players with 13 kills followed by Lauryn Hill's 10 during the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball team's annual Red and White scrimmage held on Friday, August 11 at Earl K. Long Gym.
Barnes' efforts paced the White team to a pair of set victories (25-18, 25-19). The senior middle blocker hit .500, off of 20 swings, and threw up five blocks (1 BS, 4 BA).
Siena DeCambra handed out 25 assists in guiding the White team to 29 kills on a .214 percentage. Hill was the top point producer for the Red team while libero Kennedy Gustafson collected a game-high seven digs.
In addition to Gustafson, top newcomer performances included outside hitter Shyia Richardson's nine kills, freshman setter Maddi Fritz's 13 assists and libero Mio Yamamoto's six digs. Local freshmen Abby Cunningham and Caroline Lalonde from Westminster Christian Academy tallied three kills and two digs, respectively.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Ragin' Cajuns are set to provide fans with another season preview next week when the team returns to E.K. Long Gym on Thursday, August 17 for a 6:00 p.m. exhibition match with Tulane. Admission is free and open to the public.
