Ragin' Cajuns to face Vandy, LSU, Houston in weekend trip to Minute Maid Park

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team will take part in the six-team Astros Foundation College Classic to be held from March 1-3, 2024 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas, in an official announcement on Friday.
 
Louisiana, which won 41 games and earned its 18th berth to the NCAA Regionals this past season, will join defending national champion LSU, plus Vanderbilt, Texas, Houston and Texas State in the six-team field.
 
Formerly named the Shriner's College Classic, Louisiana makes its fifth overall appearance in the event (2002, 2003, 2016, 2018) and will open the weekend against Vanderbilt on Friday, March 1 in a 3:05 p.m. contest. The meeting will be the second overall against the Commodores with Louisiana claiming a 3-0 win in the 2018 Shriner's College Classic.
 
Louisiana and LSU will close out Saturday's schedule on March 2 at 7:05 p.m. when the schools meet for the first time in an out-of-state venue. The Ragin' Cajuns have won four of the last six meetings between the schools, including an 8-5 win in last year's contest in Baton Rouge.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns and Houston will wrap up the nine-game tournament in the finale on Sunday, March 3 at 7:05 p.m. Louisiana took two of three games during the 2022 season at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park and will face the Cougars in Houston for the first time since 2016.
 
All nine games of the tournament will air live on TV in the Astros' five-state viewing area. All nine games will also be streamed online. Information on tickets and the official TV schedule will be released at a later date.
