Ragin’ Cajuns Topple Tigers, 7-4, to Force Winner-Take-All Contest

Rematch between Louisiana and LSU to begin at 4:20 p.m. with trip to Super Regionals on the line
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 22 Louisiana softball team forced a winner-take-all game in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional after defeating 10th-seeded LSU, 7-4, Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park.
The Ragin' Cajuns struck first in the opening frame as Mihyia Davis reached on an error and advanced to third on a Sophie Piskos single before being driven in by Karly Heath on a fielder's choice.
LSU responded with four runs in the top half of the second, highlighted by a two-run homer from Karli Petty.
In the home half, the Cajuns put up two runs to cut the lead to 4-3.
Alexa Langeliers led off the inning with a solo blast to left center, her 13th of the season. Maddie Hayden was then hit by a pitch and moved to third with a stolen base and a Davis single through the left side. Stormy Kotzelnick plated Hayden with an infield single to first.
Louisiana regained the lead in the third as Lauren Allred and Laney Creduer registered singles before Jourdyn Campbell provided pinch-hit heroics with a two-out, three-run homer to center.
The Ragin' Cajuns added an insurance run in the fourth as Piskos led off the inning with a home run off the light pole in left to give UL a 7-4 advantage.
Sam Landry was dominant in the circle as she earned her 19th win of the campaign after tossing five innings of relief. The Mont Belvieu, Texas, native fanned two while scattering one hit.

The Ragin' Cajuns and LSU face off for the third time this weekend with a trip to Super Regionals on the line with the game set to begin at 4:20 p.m.
