Ragin’ Cajuns Advance to SBC Tournament Championship With 64-58 Victory Over Texas State

Louisiana is making its ninth appearance in the Sun Belt Tournament Championship Game
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Louisiana men's basketball team advanced to the Sun Belt Tournament championship game as it led wire-to-wire in its 64-58 semifinal victory over Texas State on Sunday at the Pensacola Bay Center.
The Ragin' Cajuns are set to make their ninth appearance in the Sun Belt Tournament championship game and will face South Alabama for the third time with a NCAA Tournament berth on the line.
Louisiana (25-7) jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the first half as Greg Williams Jr. scored four of his nine points in the first 3:30 with a 3-pointer and a free throw. The Cajuns and Bobcats battled with Texas State tying the game twice before Louisiana took a 34-25 advantage into the half.
The Ragin' Cajuns closed out the final 3:48 of the half on an 8-2 run and held Texas State to 1-for-7 from the floor.
Louisiana came out of the break strong and extended its lead to 14, 42-28, before Texas State made a run of their own and cut the lead to four with 5:55 left to go. Jordan Brown stepped up big and scored the next four points for Louisiana to extend the lead to 56-48.
The Bobcats clawed back and cut the lead to two on a pair of free throws with 1:55 remaining, but it was Brown who stepped up again with a pair of buckets before Themus Fulks made two free throws to secure the victory.
Brown led all scorers with 18 points and added six rebounds to go along with a pair of assists and a block. Terence Lewis II scored 10 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with Fulks at seven as Fulks dished out a game-high five assists. Williams added nine points and tied his season high with three blocks.
The Cajuns and Jaguars tip off at 6 p.m. Monday on ESPN2.
