Ragin' Cajuns Open Play Monday at USF Invitational

Louisiana part of 14-team field in event hosted by South Florida
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team competes in its third of five events during the fall portion of its 2023-24 season when it opens play on Monday at the USF Invitational at Southern Hill Plantation Club.

Louisiana, part of a 14-team field, will open play at 7:30 a.m. CT in a 36-hole shotgun start before completing the event on Tuesday. The Ragin' Cajuns join host South Florida in the event and will compete against a pair of Sun Belt Conference teams – Georgia State and Troy.

Rounding out the field includes Davidson, Delaware, East Carolina, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, George Mason, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Stetson and Wofford.

Louisiana looks to post its third, top-five finish as a team in as many events during the 2023-24 season after tying for first at the Argent Financial Classic and finishing fourth at the Graeme McDowell Invitational.

Eli Ortego, coming off his second career top-five finish, will play in the No. 1 slot in Louisiana's five-man lineup for the event. The junior finished the GMAC Invitational with a 54-hole score of 8-under-208 and finished two shots out of medalist honors.

Jake Marler will play in the No. 2 position for the Ragin' Cajuns with Dylan Keating, Burke Alford and Malan Potgieter rounding out the lineup. Matt Weber, making his 2023-24 debut for Louisiana, will compete individually in the field. Â
