Rematch with Southeastern set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team returns to Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park on Wednesday, October 25 to begin the final stretch of its fall exhibition schedule.
Louisiana has two games remaining against outside competition at Lamson Park, starting with Wednesday's 6:00 p.m. matchup against Southeastern. The Ragin' Cajuns and Lions will play 10 innings.
It's the second contest this fall between UL and SLU. The Cajuns captured an 11-3 win last Wednesday (October 18) in Hammond behind the trio of Lauren Allred, Denali Loecker and Sophie Piskos at the plate who each posted three RBI and Loecker dominated in the circle with five innings of scoreless two-hit softball and six strikeouts.
Admission to all fall softball games at Lamson Park is free. The Louisiana Athletics Clear Bag Policy will be in effect; permitted items can be viewed here.
Concessions will be available for purchase (no outside food/drinks allowed).
Parking, on a first-come, first serve basis, is available in the Lamson Park lot at Bourgeois Hall. Fans can also park at the Cajun Field lot on the corner of Cajundome Boulevard and Reinhardt Drive.
Following Wednesday's outing, the Ragin' Cajuns will conclude their fall exhibition slate at Lamson Park on Friday, November 3 hosting McNeese in a 6:00 p.m. game that completes a home-and-home between the two teams.
Louisiana is 4-0 in its 2023 fall exhibition segment, having swept a series with LSU Eunice and claiming road wins at McNeese and SLU. The Ragin' Cajuns have outscored the opposition 74-5 and slugged 37 extra base hits (18 doubles, 3 triples, 16 home runs).
Top performances at the plate so far during the exhibition slate include Alexa Langeliers' .667 average (10-for-15), a team-leading 11 hits from Mihyia Davis and double-digit RBI from Allred (13) and Loecker (10). Allred leads the way with four home runs while Cecilia Vasquez (3) and Loecker (2) have also hit multiple home runs.
The pitching efforts have been spearheaded by Sam Landry and Loecker who have both tossed 10 innings and have yet to yield an earned run. Landry has surrendered only one hit and struck out 16. The entire staff, which also includes Lexie Delbrey, Sam Ryan, and Chlose Riassetto, has limited the opposition to 18 hits over 39 innings.
ABOUT LOUISIANA
Louisiana is coming off a fourth consecutive Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament championship, the program's 24th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, a No. 9 RPI rating, a Top 20 finish across the board in all major national polls, and a trip to the NCAA Super Regional round last spring.
Â
With a now veteran-laden roster, as head coach Gerry Glasco's No. 1 recruiting Class of 2022 now enters their junior campaign, plus the key summer transfer additions highlighted by the Florida duo of Lexie Delbrey and Sam Roe, there's plenty reason enough for heightened expectations in the coming spring season.
Â
This fall the Ragin' Cajuns also welcome a pair of new faces to the coaching staff in defensive coach Hunter Veach and hitting coach Shellie Landry, an All-American alumnae who competed for the program from 2013-16. Their addition provides Glasco with a specific coach for every facet of the game, to go along with pitching coach Justin Robichaux.
