Louisiana Opens Play at Everett Buick GMC Classic

Ragin' Cajuns have posted top-four finishes in all three events in the fall
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team competes in its fourth event of the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule beginning on Monday when it opens play at the Everett Buick GMC Classic at Chenal Country Club.

Play begins on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start consisting of 36 holes before the final 18 holes are played on Tuesday in an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com and RaginCajuns.com.

Louisiana, which has posted three top-four finishes in as many events during the fall, is part of a 15-team field which is hosted by former Sun Belt Conference member Little Rock. Also entered in the field includes: Ball State, Boston College, Central Arkansas, Lamar, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Northern Colorado, Oral Roberts, Troy, ULM, UT Arlington and UTEP.

The Ragin' Cajuns, averaging 285.44 per round, finished in a tie for fourth place in last week's event at the USF Invitational in Brooksville, Fla.

Eli Ortego, who has posted a 70.89 scoring average in nine rounds this fall, will play in the No. 1 slot for Louisiana. The junior finished tied for sixth at the USF Invitational, capping off the event with a 5-under-par 67.

Malan Potgieter, who shot a 4-under-68 in the final round in last week's event, is averaging 71.67 per round for Louisiana with Jake Marler (73.44), Burke Alford (72.22) and Dylan Keating (73.00) rounding out the lineup. Matt Weber, who had his 2023-24 debut scratched last week due to illness, will compete as an individual.
