FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. Quick Trip: It's a rare single-match weekend in non-conference play for Louisiana, as Friday's meeting with Texas A&M is the only contest the team has scheduled while in College Station.
  2. Up for the Challenge: Having already taken one Power 5 opponent to five sets (Michigan State), the Ragin' Cajuns are ready for the first of back-to-back challenges against SEC foes. After the Texas A&M contest, the squad meets Alabama next Friday in Fort Worth.
  3. Homecoming: The Texas A&M trip is a Homecoming for sophomore outside hitter Coco Gillett who is from nearby Bryan, Texas (Bryan HS). Gillett is in her second season with Louisiana after transferring from SFA following the 2020-21 season.
  4. Bennett Brings It: Fifth-year senior outside hitter Kelsey Bennett is coming off a 56-kill, 65-dig effort in last weekend's Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic. It was a customary performance for Bennett, who during the home-opening weekend tournament eclipsed both 1,000 career kills and digs.
  5. Not Backing Down: Six matches into the 2022 season, the Ragin' Cajuns have played 26 sets and have yet to be swept. Last season, in the debut with head coach Kristi Gray, Louisiana was swept only once in regular season play.

NEW FACES
- Kristi Gray welcomed five newcomers to the program in the offseason. Transfers Mya Wilson (Georgia Southern), Paige Guidry (Nicholls), Celeste Darling (Houston) and Paola Garcia (UNLV), plus incoming freshman Lauryn Hill (Frisco, Texas/Liberty HS) as the newest members of the squad.
- Wilson hit .220-plus and accumulated at least 150 kills and 50 blocks each season at Georgia Southern (2019-21). Darling, who returns to Louisiana after competing as a freshman with the Ragin' Cajuns in 2019, helped lead Houston to the American Athletic Conference West Division title in the 2020-21 season and a 20-win season the following fall campaign.

PRESEASON PRAISE
Kelsey Bennett and Coco Gillett, both All-Sun Belt Conference selections in 2021, represented Louisiana on the 2022 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Volleyball team.

UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA
Next weekend Louisiana will be in Fort Worth, Texas for matchups against Alabama and Abilene Christian in a TCU-hosted tournament from Friday-Saturday, September 16-17.

In what will be the final non-conference matches of the season, the Ragin' Cajuns face Alabama on Friday (September 16) at 1:00 p.m. and take on Abilene Christian on Saturday (September 17) at 3:30 p.m. from Schollmaier Arena.
