ULtra: Louisiana Athletics Launches New NIL Education and Brand Management Program for Student-Athletes

Ragin’ Cajuns partner with brandRusso to facilitate NIL opportunities for student-athletes
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics has officially launched ULtra, an exciting new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) education program designed to position the department's more than 400 student-athletes for success in the NIL space both locally and nationally.
With the help of local agency brandRusso, Ragin' Cajuns student-athletes will be equipped with the tools and knowledge that they need to acquire NIL deals while also meeting University and NCAA compliance standards.
The new marketplace developed through this partnership will allow businesses to connect with student-athletes while also maximizing NIL opportunities.
"As the NIL space continues to evolve and become more competitive, we knew it was important to educate our student-athletes while assisting them with personal brand development and management," Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard said. "With ULtra, we have created a platform that will leverage ties within the local community to provide NIL opportunities for our student-athletes. I am grateful to brandRusso for their support and expertise as we start this exciting new program for Louisiana Athletics."
ULtra, which is an acronym for University Lucrative Training Resources Advantage, will provide student-athletes with advisors and mentors that will lead NIL training and education while also assisting each student-athlete on setting plans and goals for leveraging their personal brand.
In addition to the education component of ULtra, representatives from brandRusso will help each participating student-athlete asses their market value and build strategies that will best market and promote the individual to a potential NIL stakeholder.
These assessments include the analysis of social media platforms to discover areas of growth for monetization as well as financial literacy courses, both of which are key pillars in this space.
With this new education piece and the ever-changing demands student-athletes face on a regular basis, ULtra will also prepare all Ragin' Cajuns student-athletes for success upon graduation from the University.
Louisiana Athletics will continue to explore new partnerships that will further enhance the student-athlete experience and help position them in the NIL space.
