Hinnant Named Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golfer Peter Hinnant picked up his first honor of the 2021-22 season when he was named on Thursday as the Sun Belt Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced.

Hinnant, Louisiana's leader in scoring average (72.38), recorded his ninth career Top 10 finish at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, posting a 54-hole score of 6-under par 210 (70-72-68—210) to tie for fourth in the 100-golfer field.

The Winston-Salem, N.C., native recorded 10 birdies in the tournament to become the second Ragin' Cajun golfer to surpass the 400 mark in a career. Hinnant's final-round 68 was his low round of the season, while his 72.38 scoring average is ranked ninth among the SBC leaders.

Louisiana will look to earn a berth to the NCAA Regionals when it competes in the Sun Belt Conference Championships from April 24-27 at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
