Louisiana Opens Play at Mossy Oak Collegiate

Final tuneup for Ragin' Cajuns prior to SBC Championships
WEST POINT, Miss. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team will begin its final tuneup prior to the Sun Belt Conference Championships when it opens play at the Mossy Oak Collegiate on Monday at Mossy Oak Golf Course.

The two-day event begins on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start with the field playing 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

Coming off a fourth-place finish at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate, Louisiana looks to continue momentum heading into the SBC Championships, scheduled for April 24-27 in El Dorado, Ark.

The Ragin' Cajuns will be part of a stellar field which is hosted by Mississippi State and features SBC rivals Arkansas State, South Alabama and ULM.

Also entered in the 19-team field includes nationally-ranked programs Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Florida State and UAB with Chattanooga, Kansas State, Lipscomb, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Michigan, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss.

Senior Peter Hinnant, averaging 72.62 per round during the 2021-22 season, will play in the No. 1 slot for Louisiana with Charlie Flynn (73.43) playing second. Freshman Eli Ortego, the team leader in scoring average (72.41) will play in the No. 3 spot for the Ragin' Cajuns with Jake Marler (74.91) and Matt Weber (74.73) rounding out the lineup.
