Current six-match win streak has drawn attention to the Ragin' Cajuns

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis team, winner's of six straight matches highlighted by four consecutive quality wins on the road, has entered the conversation for national rankings landing inside the Top 50 of the current ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Men's National Rankings.

Louisiana (7-1) is ranked No. 41 in the ITA's rankings on the strength of back-to-back weekend sweeps on the road in the state of Texas that featured wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Rice and a Power 5 triumph over Texas Tech.

The Ragin' Cajuns are back in the rankings for the first time since the 2020 season. It's the program's highest ranking since reaching No. 47 back in 2012.

Historically, this is the 20th time that Louisiana has earned a national ranking within the Top 75 at least one time during the season.

The Ragin' Cajuns' strong start under first-year head coach Luc Godin has been a by-product of strong singles play, with the team's combined 28-13 mark led by reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Oriol Fillat Gimenez's 6-1 showing at the No. 3 position, and the consistent performance of tandems at No. 1 doubles (Karlo Kajin & Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez) and No. 2 doubles (Fillat Gimenez & Vasil Dimitrov) producing a combined 12-3 record.

No. 41 Louisiana returns to action from Friday-Saturday, Feb. 18-19 competing in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions for men's tennis at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. Louisiana, guaranteed three matches in the event, begins tournament play on Friday at 9 a.m. vs. Abilene Christian (2-7) immediately followed by a meeting with either East Tennessee State (2-3) or Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9-3) in bracket play at 2:30 p.m.
