Second round resumes Tuesday at 8 a.m., with final round to immediately follow
MOBILE, Ala. – Freshman Eli Ortego carded a pair of eagles to finish three shots off the individual lead, but the second round of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate was suspended due to darkness on Monday at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.

All 80 players were stranded on the course in the spring opener with second-round play to resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m., with the final round to immediately follow. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

Ortego began the day with a 1-under-par 71 in the opening round before finishing at 2-under through 13 holes in the second. The freshman recorded his first eagle of the day in the opening round on the par-5, 528-yard No. 6 hole before shooting a bogey-free 4-under 32 in the second round, which was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5, 596-yard No. 16.

Ortego, who was at 3-under-par through 31 holes, finished three strokes off the lead held by UAB's Khavish Varadan.

Peter Hinnant was one stroke back in the overall standings for Louisiana at 2-under par. The senior opened the day with a 3-under 69, which was fueled by a bogey-free, 4-under 32 on the back nine.

Matt Weber posted a 4-over-par through 31 holes for Louisiana with Jose Dibildox and Hudson Dubinski overcoming a rugged first round to post scores of 4-over and 3-over before play was suspended.

Louisiana posted a first-round, team score of 8-over 296 in the opening round and was at 10-over par overall. The Ragin' Cajuns were in 10th place in the event, two strokes ahead of No. 28-ranked Kent State and ahead of Davidson, Miami (Ohio) and Western Kentucky.
