LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Bryan Maggard announced on Monday the appointment of Evan Roberts as Associate Director of Athletics for Communications and Digital Strategy.
Â
Roberts, who began his role with Ragin' Cajuns Athletics on Oct. 3, spent the past seven years as an Assistant Athletics Communications Director at Texas A&M, joining the program in January of 2016. In his role at Louisiana, Roberts will serve as the chief communications officer for the department while working the Senior Leadership team and overseeing publicity for the Ragin' Cajuns football team, Broadcast Services, Coaches' Video and will have Sport Administration duties.
Â
"We are very excited to have Evan Roberts join our leadership team. He brings quality experience, having spent time at both Texas A&M and Auburn," Maggard said. "Evan, along with our current veteran Communications staff members, will continue to move our communications and digital strategy department in the direction necessary to maintain and grow our national exposure."
Â
During his tenure in College Station, Roberts handled publicity for the Aggies' men's basketball and men's golf teams.
Â
A native Hoosier, Roberts spent four seasons (2016-19) as the softball contact in which the Aggies appeared in four NCAA Regionals, two NCAA Super Regionals and the 2017 Women's College World Series. During the construction of Texas A&M's $28.6 million stadium, Davis Diamond, Roberts played an integral part in the planning and execution of the graphics printed throughout the facility.
Â
Roberts spent seven seasons as an equestrian SID, and served as the Chair of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's Selection Committee for multiple seasons.
Â
Prior to his arrival in College Station, Roberts served as a Communications Assistant at his alma mater – Auburn University – working as the primary contact for the equestrian, women's gymnastics, men's and women's track & field and cross country teams, while assisting with men's basketball.
Â
Before taking the position as Communications Assistant, Roberts burst onto the athletics communications scene as a student worker in the media relations office at Auburn beginning in 2009.
Â
During the summer of 2010, he was the broadcast intern for the Orlando Mavericks of the Florida Collegiate Summer League. As the lead play-by-play voice for the Mavericks, Roberts' broadcasts could be heard worldwide online with select marquee matchups on the local ESPN Radio station.
Â
A frequent visitor to barbeque restaurants throughout the state of Texas, Roberts graduated from Auburn in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.
