Men's Tennis Home-Opening Tournament Canceled

Forecasted cold temperatures delay Ragin' Cajuns home debut
LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Tennis program announced Tuesday that the team's home-opening Winter Classic tournament scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Jan. 21-22 at Cajun Courts has been canceled due to forecasted cold temperatures associated with an incoming cold front.
Louisiana (1-1) was set to host Nicholls, Tyler Junior College and Xavier (La.) in its Spring 2022 home debut.
With temperatures expected be in the upper-20s and lower-30s to start the day on both Friday (Jan. 21) and Saturday (Jan. 22) and reach only the mid-40s, the coaching staffs of the participating teams agreed the weather conditions would not be suitable for competition.
The Ragin' Cajuns will now attempt to make their home debut the weekend of Jan. 28-30, which is currently an open weekend for the team. Potential matchups will be announced on RaginCajuns.com and the team's social media channels.Â

Louisiana made its dual match debut with first-year head coach Luc Godin the weekend of Jan. 14-16 with a pair of matches in the state of Texas.Â
On Friday (Jan. 14), the Ragin' Cajuns made it a successful debut with Godin winning five of the six singles games (four in straight sets) to post a 6-1 win over Abilene Christian in Waco. The team's attempt at a road trip sweep fell short on Sunday (Jan. 16) in San Antonio despite claiming the doubles point from UTSA, as the Roadrunners rebounded to claim all six singles matchups.
The doubles tandem of Oriol Fillat Gimenez and Vasil Dimitrov opened the season with a 2-0 mark.
