Mantaux overcomes 5-0 deficit to earn straight-set win
LAFAYETTE – Floriane Picaut and Clara Mantaux got things started in doubles play before each picking up singles' victories in leading the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team to a 4-0 win over in-state foe McNeese on Sunday at Cajun Courts.
Dana Radovanovic picked up a straight-set victory in singles play as Louisiana (3-2) returned to the court for the first time in two weeks. Playing in its first home match since hosting Southern on Jan. 30, the Ragin' Cajuns pitched their second straight 4-0 victory in as many seasons against their I-10 rival.
Picaut and Mantaux opened doubles play with a 6-1 win over Carlotta Romito and Hanna Blinouskaya on the No. 1 court before the Ragin' Cajuns would clinch the doubles point as Babette Burgersdijk and Lucie Raquin posted a 6-2 win over Yukina Abe and Matilde Mulatero at No. 3.
Radovanovic gave Louisiana a 2-0 lead in singles play as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Abe at No. 6. Picaut claimed a 6-1, 6-4 win over Romito at No. 1 before Mantaux overcame a 5-0 deficit in the opening set to claim a 7-5, 6-2 win to clinch the match at No. 2 singles.
Louisiana will return to action on Tuesday (Feb. 23) when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at Cajun Courts. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m., with live results available at RaginCajuns.com.
