Louisiana Track and Field Adds Four on Signing Day

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Track and Field has signed four athletes to its 2022 signing class, head coach Lon Badeaux announced on Wednesday.

Javed Jones, Shemia Odaine, Juliana Courville and Kamryn Williams begin the years class and bolster the Ragin' Cajuns future talent lineup.

A native St. Elizabeth Jamaica, Jones spent the last two years at New Mexico Junior College where he competed in the 400m, 400m hurdles and 400m relays. Jones posted a personal best time of 47.47 in the 400 at the 2021 Don Kirby Tailwind Open in April of this year.

Odaine joins the program from Barton Community College in Kansas where she competed for two seasons. A native of Barbados, she pent her early years in Bruce Vale, St. Andrew before coming to the states.
 
The sophomore sprinter ran a personal best time of 11.74 at the WATMU Joe Maker Classic and Multi in April and set a personal-best mark of 23.87 in the 200 at the 2021 NJCAA Region VI Championships in May.
 
Oidaine will also compete in the long jump with the Ragin' Cajuns. She won the Region VI Indoor Championships with a personal best mark of 6.01m.
 
Courville is an individual district champion coming out of State College of Florida Colligate School. In high school, Courville primarily competed in the 800m and 400m. As a freshman, she secured a personal best time of 1:00.10 to win the FHSAA 3A District 10 400m Final. Courville placed ninth in the 800m at the Florida 4A State Championships with a personal best 2:16.24.

Williams rounds out the signing day members out of Richmond Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. At Foster, she competed in the 400m, the 800m and the triple jump. William's personal bests include a time of 1:04.86 in the 400m at the Angleton Purnell Relays in March and an 800m mark of 2:22.55 at the UIL 5A Region III championships.
 
All signees will be eligible to compete beginning in the 2022 season.
