Ragin’ Cajuns and Lafayette Police will provide tickets for remaining football home games to youth in the community
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics, the Lafayette Police Department, and the city of Lafayette have joined together for a Cajuns Care initiative that will allow youth in the community to attend Ragin' Cajuns Football games.
The partnership will provide 1,100 tickets for each remaining home game during the 2021 season to youth under 18-years-old. The tickets will be distributed by Lafayette PD officers prior to each contest.
"We are thrilled to work alongside the Lafayette Police Department to make a positive impact on our community through this new outreach program," Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Bryan Maggard, Ph.D. said. "This initiative, which is being spearheaded by the Lafayette Police Department and our City of Lafayette leadership, will help create positive engagement opportunities with local youth in our community."
The Cajuns Care program, first announced in 2018, is presented by Dudley DeBosier and continues to be Louisiana Athletics' vehicle for community service through its partnerships with non-profits throughout Acadiana and the state of Louisiana.
"We are excited to be partnering with the Louisiana Department of Athletics for this great cause," Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory said. "We hope that it will spark a healthy conversation between youth and police officers."
Louisiana will play its Sun Belt Conference home opener against Appalachian State on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
