Local partners donate approximately $250,000 to supply Catapult performance technology
LAFAYETTE - Precision performance data and analytics will now be available to the Ragin' Cajuns on a daily basis, as Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Park Place Surgical Hospital have partnered with Louisiana Athletics in the implementation of Catapult wearable performance technology for the Department of Athletics' 16 sport programs.
Â
"We are extremely grateful for the support from Our Lady of Lourdes and Park Place for their investment in our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard said. "This technology will be a tremendous resource for the development of our student-athletes, as well as their health and wellness."
Â
An estimated $250,000 investment value from Our Lady of Lourdes and Park Place over a multi-year time period made the addition of the technology possible for Ragin' Cajuns Athletics. Catapult uses wearable vests with monitoring capabilities to measure and optimize performance, mitigate risk of injury and quantify return to play for injury.
Â
"Our partnership in this sports performance technology is about investing in injury prevention and bringing out the very best in our Ragin' Cajuns athletes." said Bryan Lee on behalf of Our Lady of Lourdes and Park Place Surgical Hospital.
Â
Data tracking and video analysis will be used to monitor the Ragin' Cajuns as they train and practice leading up games.
Â
Catapult exists to build and improve the performance of athletes and teams. With precision engineering at the intersection of sports science and analytics, Catapult is used around the world, with a presence in 137 countries amongst more than 3,000 teams. Notable professional squads like the New York Giants, Houston Rockets, Chelsea FC and Bayern Munich employ the GPS-based technology.
