Louisiana Heads East For Graeme McDowell Invitational

Ragin' Cajuns tee off 54-hole event beginning at 9:10 a.m.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team competes in its second event of the 2020-21 season beginning on Tuesday when it opens play in the UAB-hosted Graeme McDowell Invitational on the Founder's Course of Greystone Golf and Country Club.

The first day of action of the 54-hole event will begin at 7:50 a.m., on Tuesday with 36 holes followed by the remaining 18 holes on Wednesday. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.

Joining Louisiana and UAB in the 10-team field includes five Sun Belt Conference members: Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Troy and ULM, along with Augusta, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss.

Louisiana returns to action after opening the long-awaited 2020-21 season earlier this month with a ninth-place finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.

Peter Hinnant posted his first career top-5 finish to lead the Ragin' Cajuns after recording a 3-under 213 in the 54-hole event with redshirt freshman Matt Weber finishing in a tie for 30th-place in his collegiate debut.

Hinnant and Weber will lead a group of six Ragin' Cajuns players in the field where the top four scores for each team are counted. The duo will be joined on the par-72, 7,299-yard course by Hudson Dubinski and tee off from the No. 1 tee at 9:20 a.m., with Bjorn Gudjonsson, Charlie Flynn and Hunter Hammett opening the day at 9:10 a.m.

Louisiana earned a sixth-place finish in last year's event which featured 19 teams. The Ragin' Cajuns closed out the tournament with the second-lowest score (6-under 282) to move up six spots and finish in a tie with Troy.
