Fan-driven cookbook to highlight the flavors of tailgating in Acadiana
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Athletics is giving fans a chance to flex their culinary muscles and share their favorite Cajun cuisine by submitting recipes to be featured in the Ragin' Cajuns Tailgating Cookbook.
The fan-driven publication, which is sponsored by Evangeline Maid, Lafayette Travel and RAKs BBQ Supply, will be a staple at Louisiana tailgates and highlight the flavorful foods of Acadiana.
"If there is anything our fans love more than when the Ragin' Cajuns win, it's the food from their tailgate before the game," said Nico Yantko, Deputy Director of Athletics/External Operations. "This is an excellent engagement opportunity for our fan base to show what is so unique and special about Lafayette and Acadiana. Food, entertainment and hospitality are big points of emphasis that our fans take tremendous pride in, and this cookbook will certainly reflect that."
Fans will submit their recipes online at ragincajuns.com/cookbook, which will then be prepared and judged by chefs from Louisiana Athletics' restaurant partners. The winning recipes within each food category will then be published in the book.
The cookbook will also feature a one-of-a-kind cover designed by local artist, Tony Bernard, which will showcase the rich cooking tradition of the Cajun culture.
Louisiana's Virtual Fan Fest continues on Wednesday, Sept. 2, with Louisiana Football head coach Billy Napier joining fans via Facebook Live. There will also be a special announcement from Ragin' Cajuns Sports Properties during Day 2 of the event.
Follow the Ragin' Cajuns on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (@RaginCajuns) to stay up-to-date on Louisiana Athletics.
