Louisiana Athletics has teamed up with RoadRunnerApp.com to offer a new series on RaginCajuns.com in which student-athletes share details on how they've adjusted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and offer insight into their personal lives.

In this Q&A feature article, you will "Get to Kneaux" volleyball's Hannah Ramirez. It was a remarkable debut season for Hannah with the Ragin' Cajuns in 2019, as she earned Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year accolades. She provided a spark on the court, energizing her teammates, and went on to collect 488 digs - the 10th most recorded by a Louisiana Volleyball player in the rally scoring era. Headed for her senior season in fall 2020, Hannah hopes to pass along her passion for the sport to younger generations after she obtains her degree.

What was your daily routine during the COVID-19 quarantine as the spring semester wrapped up?
HR: After I would wake up in the morning, I ate a healthy breakfast, worked out, then completed homework assignments. I also enjoyed riding bikes with my family or other activities outside with my younger brothers.

What was Coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot's message to your team for this unprecedented time?
HR: She encouraged us to stay connected with each other. Also, continue to stay as active as possible so that when we return to play in the fall, we are ready to go.

How were you and your teammates able to stay together, while in remote locations, during this challenging time period?
HR: We held team meetings and small group meetings throughout the week to make sure we were staying connected. I also made sure that I blocked off time out of my day to give my teammates a call and ask how things were going.

Take us back to when you decided to come to the University and become a Ragin' Cajun. What about the school helped you make that decision?
HR: I fell in love with the people, the campus, and how the volleyball team made me feel welcomed. They always made me feel like I was at home.

What are your plans after your academic and athletic career at Louisiana is done?
HR: After I graduate, I plan on returning home to find a high school volleyball coaching job.

What is your earliest sports memory?
HR: My earliest sports memory is playing soccer with all my childhood friends when I was as young as five-years-old.

Growing up, your sports hero was who? And why?
HR: Growing up, my favorite sports hero was Michael Jordan. His leadership, commitment and determination to win is always something I look up to.

An important question: what is your favorite food?
HR: Any kind of Mexican food.
