Louisiana Athletics has teamed up with RoadRunnerApp.com to offer a new series on RaginCajuns.com in which student-athletes share details on how they've adjusted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and offer insight into their personal lives.
Â
In this Q&A feature article, you will "Get to Kneaux" Ragin' Cajuns golfer Bjorn Gudjonsson. The Mosfellsbaer, Iceland, native has appeared in 20 events in his three-year career, with 15 rounds of finishing at par or lower with four rounds in the 60's.
Â
What has become your daily routine during quarantine?
BG: "I have tried to keep up with the fitness side of things by riding my bike, going for hikes etc. Then I have just been doing my homework and watching loads of TV."
Â
What has Head Coach Sliman's message to your team been during this unprecedented time?
BG: "That this will pass and when we get back, we are going to come back stronger than before. He has encouraged us to take this negative and turn it into a positive."
Â
How have you and your teammates stuck together remotely during this challenging time period?
BG: "We have had Zoom meetings three times a week which has been nice, then we also have social media to connect."
Â
An important question: what is your favorite food?
BG: "Can´t go wrong with a proper steak."
Â
Take us back to when you decided to come to the University and become a Ragin' Cajun. What about the school helped you make that decision?
BG: "Coach (Sliman) seemed like a nice guy who care a lot about his guys, which he does. Then the weather was a big factor for me, coming from Iceland to better weather conditions. I had also heard loads of positives from former Icelandic Cajuns."
Â
What is your earliest sports memory?
BG: "I guess it would be just playing chipping and putting games with my friends, don´t really have a specific moment."
Â
Growing up, your sports hero was who? And why?
BG: "I would have to name two, Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods. They both were intense competitors who had the best work ethic of anyone in their sports."
Â
What is your major, and what about it do you like most?
BG: "Mathematics with a minor in accounting. I just like numbers really. I have always been interested in math and problem solving. I find the process of having a problem and finding a solution for it fun."
Â
What class have you enjoyed most at the University so far?
BG: "I don´t really have a specific class that was more fun than the other really."
Â
What are your plans after your academic and athletic career at Louisiana is done?
BG: "I honestly don´t know. I plan on giving pro golf a go."
