Louisiana Opens Up Three-Game Homestand Against Troy

Ragin’ Cajuns defeated the Trojans 79-73 in their first meeting on Jan. 11

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana will look to snap its two-game losing skid on Saturday afternoon when it tips off a three-game homestand against the league-leading Troy Trojans. The contest is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
 
Entering the matchup with an impeccable 7-2 record on its home floor, the Ragin' Cajuns are looking to continue that trend and pick up their ninth all-time win over the Trojans in Lafayette.
 
In its last outing, Louisiana could not slow down South Alabama's offense in a 78-63 defeat in Mobile. Ty'Reona Doucet led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Brandi Williams contributed 14 points of her own.
 
Doucet is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 13.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest, while Williams is averaging 12.1 points per game. Williams is also the team's leading scorer at home with 10.1 points a game.
 
Troy will put its six-game winning streak on the line when it faces Louisiana. The Trojans enter Saturday's game with a 18-3 overall record and a 9-1 conference mark, their lone conference loss coming to the Ragin' Cajuns on Jan. 11.
 
The Trojans posted a strong showing against ULM in its last outing on Wednesday night, winning the game, 77-65, on the back of a 43 percent (29-of-67) shooting performance. Alexus Dye led the team with 16 points and hauled in six rebounds, while Japonica James added 14 points. Kayla Robinson (11) and Jasmine Robinson (10) also contributed double figure performances.
 
Jasmine Robinson is currently the team's leading scorer, averaging 12.7 points a contest, while James is right on her heels with an average of 12.2 points per game.
 
Louisiana and Troy will be meeting for the 26th time dating back to 2006 when the two programs face off on Saturday afternoon in Lafayette. Troy leads the all-time series, 14-11, but Louisiana leads the way, 8-3, in Lafayette. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, Louisiana is 6-9 against Troy and owns a 2-4 record against the Trojans in Lafayette.
