Louisiana to be paired with Bowling Green, Oral Roberts, SFA in final round
LAREDO, Texas – Bjorn Gudjonsson equaled his season-low round after posting a 3-under-par 69 in the afternoon and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns finished the first day of the 2020 Border Olympics in 13th place on Monday at the Max Mandel Golf Course.

Jack Tolson carded rounds of 3-over 75 and 1-over 73 as Louisiana posted a team score of 22-over-598 after 36 holes.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament will begin on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Louisiana will be paired with Bowling Green, Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin in the final round of the 17-team event.

Gudjonsson, who finished the first day tied for 19th place at 1-over 145, opened the day with a 4-over-76 before rebounding in the second round to match his season-low round set two weeks ago at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate. The junior recorded six of Louisiana's 13 combined birdies in the second round with three coming in his final four holes.

Tolson recorded three birdies in the second round for Louisiana to finish in a tie for 38th place at 4-over 148. Charlie Flynn carded a 1-under 71 in the opening round for the Ragin' Cajuns before shooting an 81 in the second to finish at 8-over 152. Hudson Dubinski (73-81-154) and Peter Hinnant (78-80-158) rounded out the lineup for Louisiana with Dubinski recording an eagle on the par-5, 543-yard No. 3.

Sam Houston State claimed the first day lead with a team score of 565. UTSA was five shots back in second at 570 with ULM (572), Arkansas State (578) and host Houston (582) rounding out the top five.

Noah Steele of Sam Houston State, ranked No. 75 nationally, claimed the first-day lead after posting rounds of 66 and 69 to finish at 9-under 135. Teammate William Holcomb was three shots back at 138.
