Louisiana has won the last 11 meetings over its in-state rival

LAFAYETTE – After picking up a much-needed victory on its home floor in its last outing, Louisiana Women's Basketball opens a big, three-game road swing on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Monroe to take on in-state foe ULM. Tipoff is set for Noon.

With just five games remaining in the regular season, the Ragin' Cajuns enter the contest sitting in sixth place in the league standings. The team could jump as high as fourth this weekend with help from around the conference.

Louisiana has not played on the road since Feb. 6, when it fell at South Alabama, 78-63. The team is currently 6-6 on the road this season and 3-3 in league games.

Junior Ty'Reona Doucet has been a force away from home this season, nearly averaging a double-double with 16.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest, while Brandi Williams is also averaging double-figure scoring with 13.5 points.

That duo topped the 10-point threshold in the team's most recent victory, a 72-60 win over Georgia Southern in the Cajundome on Saturday, Feb. 15. Junior Jomyra Mathis paced five Ragin' Cajuns in double figures in that contest with a career-high 18 points.

ULM (3-21, 1-12 SBC) will be looking to snap an 11-game losing streak to Louisiana and its current eight-game losing streak on Saturday when it welcomes the Ragin' Cajuns. The team's lone conference win came on Jan. 16, a 58-55 road triumph at Texas State.

In its most recent outing, ULM was strong on the defensive side of the court but could not hit shots on the other end in a 52-43 defeat to Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 15. Amber Thompson led the way with 13 points against the Panthers, while Whitney Goins and Diamond Brooks each scored eight points.

Thompson has been the team's most consistent player, averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Gara Beth Self and Diamond Brooks are averaging 8.7 points and 8.6 points respectively.

The Warhawks lead the all-time series, 43-18 and are 19-7 all-time in Monroe. However, Louisiana has won the last 11 meetings, including the last six games in Monroe. Under head coach Garry Brodhead, Louisiana is 13-5 over ULM and owns a 6-2 record against the Warhawks on the road.
