Louisiana in seventh-place tie; paired with South Alabama, Denver in final round

MOBILE, Ala. – Sophomore Hudson Dubinski followed a 1-under-par 71 in the opening round with a 3-under 69 in the afternoon to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team after the first day of the 2020 Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate on Monday at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.

Louisiana, which carded a 5-under 283 in the opening round, finished in a tie for seventh place with Southern Miss after posting a team score of 2-under 571 through 36 holes. The Ragin' Cajuns will tee off the final day of the 54-hole event on Tuesday at 8 a.m., pairing with host South Alabama and Denver on the par-72, 7,212-yard course.

Dubinski carded three birdies in the opening round for Louisiana before coming back in the afternoon to tie his career-low round. The Columbia, Mo., native recorded six of Louisiana's 20 combined birdies in the second round while posting a 1-under 35 on the back nine before finishing with a 2-under 34 on the front.

Jack Tolson (69-75-144) carried Louisiana in the opening round, playing a near flawless round that consisted of four birdies and one bogey. The senior carded a 2-under 34 on the back nine before shooting a 1-under 35 on the front to finish at 3-under 69. Tolson overcame a rough start to the back nine in the second round to shoot a 1-under 35 on the front and finish with a 3-over 75.

Charlie Flynn (76-69-145) fired a 3-under 69 in the second round for the Ragin' Cajuns with Hunter Hammett (70-79-149) and Peter Hinnant (73-78-151) rounding out Louisiana's lineup. Bjorn Gudjonsson, competing as an individual, overcame a 5-over 77 in the opening round to card a 3-under 69 in the afternoon that was highlighted by a blistering 4-under 32 on the front nine.

Texas State claimed the first-day lead in the 14-team field after shooting a 274 in the second round to finish at 553 after 36 holes and take a six-stroke lead over two-time defending champion Florida State. Illinois (562), UAB (563) and Louisville (563) rounded out the top five with Wofford (570), Southern Miss (574), Louisiana (574), South Alabama (579), Denver (580) and Richmond (580) rounding out the top 10.

Calvin Ross of Texas State claimed the first-day lead after posting rounds of 67 and 65 to finish at 12-under 132. John Pak of Florida State finished the first-day in second three strokes back at 9-under 135.
