Louisiana Continues Road Swing at Georgia Southern

Ragin’ Cajuns are seeking first win in Sun Belt Conference opener since 2016
LAFAYETTE – After taking care of business with a 45-25 victory over Ohio in its last game, Louisiana continue its road swing on Saturday, Sept. 28, when it travels to Allen E. Paulson Stadium for a 5 p.m. (CST) showdown with the Georgia Southern Eagles.

In just two meetings in the all-time series, the road team has emerged victorious with Louisiana winning the first meeting between the two teams in Statesboro, 33-26, in 2016, before Georgia Southern returned the favor in Lafayette with a 34-24 win in 2017.

Louisiana is also seeking its first win in a Sun Belt Conference opener since defeating South Alabama, 28-23, on Sept. 17, 2016.

Moving the Chains
• Louisiana's offense has had no issues moving the ball in chunks and currently ranks second nationally in total first downs with 112.
• Of the 112 first downs, 58 have come on the ground, good for third nationally.
• The ability to consistently move the chains has to do with the big plays created by the Louisiana offense. The Ragin' Cajuns currently rank seventh in the nation with 87 plays of 10+ yards.

• With Louisiana's 285 yards on the ground on Saturday, the team has upped their season total to 1,295 yards, the most team rushing yards in the country.
• Louisiana also ranks second in the country in yards per attempt with 7.5 yards per carry, ranking just behind Oklahoma (8.3).
• Louisiana Football has scored 18 rushing touchdowns this season, the most in FBS. The Ragin' Cajuns have three more rushing touchdowns than the next school (SMU-15).
• The Ragin' Cajuns also rank third in average yards per game, tallying 323.8 yards on the ground. The two teams ahead of them are Oklahoma (324.3) and Navy (371.5).

• Louisiana had another terrific game on the ground against Ohio on Sept. 21.
• Elijah Mitchell (143) and Trey Ragas (129) both rushed for over 100 yards, the 27th time in school history two players have rushed for over 100 yards in the same game.
• This was just the second time that Mitchell and Ragas rushed for over 100 yards in the same game.

Three-Headed Monster
• Louisiana's combination of Elijah Mitchell, Trey Ragas and Raymond Calais have been unstoppable this season.
• The trio has accounted for 975 of the 1,295 total rushing yards and 13 of the team's 18 rushing scores.
• Furthermore, at least two of the backs have scored a rushing touchdown in every game this season, while all three found the end zone on the ground against Texas Southern on Sept. 14.

• Ja'Marcus Bradley caught five passes for 75 yards and had a touchdown against Ohio on Sept. 21.
• Bradley now has 330 receiving yards on the year, ranking him second in the conference and 31st in the country in that category.
• Bradley also extended his reception streak to 31 games and tallied 50 or more receiving yards in a single game for the 18th time in his career.

• In Saturday's victory over Ohio, the Louisiana defense picked off Nathan Rourke three times.
• Kamar Greenhouse, Asjlin Washington, and Kam Pedescleaux all recorded their first career interceptions
• The last time a Louisiana Football team tallied three interceptions in a single game was against New Mexico State on Nov. 11, 2017.
