Louisiana looks to move up leaderboard in Tuesday's final round
SAN ANTONIO – Senior Jack Tolson battled back from a 3-over-par 75 in the opening round to fire an even-par 72 in the afternoon as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's golf team officially opened its 2019-20 season on Monday at the Lone Star Invitational at TPC San Antonio.

Louisiana finished in a tie for ninth-place after 36 holes in the 54-hole event after posting scores of 300 and 303 on the par-72, 7,435-yard course.

Tolson opened the day for Louisiana with a 2-over par 38 on the back nine before capping off his opening round with a birdie on par-5, 604-yard No. 8. The senior climbed up 11 spots to a tie for 16th-place on the leaderboard in the second round, recording a birdie on the par-4, 464-yard No. 15 before posting an eagle on the par-4, 342-yard No. 5.

Charlie Flynn recorded round of 75 and 76 to finish in a tie for 36th place for the Ragin' Cajuns with Micah Goulas (77-77-154) and Peter Hinnant (76-78-154) finishing in a tie for 45th and Hudson Dubinski (74-81-155) in a tie for 51st. Justin Caldwell, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 55th-place after posting rounds of 80 and 76.

Houston and UT Arlington each claimed the first day lead after finishing with a team score of 577 after 36 holes. South Alabama (579), Lipscomb (584) and ULM (587) rounded out the top five with Little Rock (591), host UTSA (600), Rice (601), New Mexico State (603), Louisiana (603) and McNeese (610) following.

Individually, Nolan Ray of Lipscomb claimed the first-day lead after posting rounds of 7-under 65 and 3-under 69 to finish with a two shot lead over UTA's Paul Gonzalez.

The final round of the 11-team, two-day event will start with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start on Tuesday. Louisiana will be paired with McNeese in the final round. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.
