Highest ranking of the season for @RaginCajunsSB
LAFAYETTE – Only a few days removed from claiming a conference championship and completing a fourth consecutive undefeated week, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team received its highest national ranking of the 2019 season.
On the strength of pushing its season-best winning streak to 19 contests, Louisiana (42-4, 21-0 Sun Belt) moved up to No. 8 in the Week 11 release of both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 polls.
The team's previous high mark was No. 9 in both listings in the Week 6 editions on March 19.

The jump in the USA Today/NFCA poll comes after holding steady at No. 10 the previous four weeks. Gerry Glasco's squad has been inside the Top 10 of the poll seven straight weeks and this week is the highest ranked team in the State of Louisiana.
The Ragin' Cajuns biggest gain was in the ESPN/USA Softball poll, climbing three spots from No. 11 and back into the Top 10. Louisiana moved ahead of Florida, Tennessee and Texas in the listing.
Louisiana, preseason ranked No. 15 (NFCA) and No. 18 (ESPN), remains among the Top 10 for the seventh consecutive week. Since opening weekend, the squad has been at least Top 15 each week.
Dating back to April 2013, Louisiana Softball has been included in 96 consecutive releases of the Top 25 polls.
The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a 5-0 week, which included run-ruling Georgia State in all three Sun Belt matchups, to reach the 40-win mark. Additionally, the squad set the program record for best conference start (21-0), eclipsing its own 18-0 start in 2001 and 2004.
No. 8 Louisiana travels to Ruston, La. on Wednesday, April 24 for its final midweek game of the season set for 6 p.m. at Louisiana Tech. The Ragin' Cajuns then return to Yvette Girouard Field at Lamson Park April 26-28 for a Sun Belt series with Coastal Carolina and to celebrate Senior Weekend.
