Louisiana looks to build off fourth-place finish at SBC Indoor meet

62855LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team officially opens its 2019 outdoor season on Saturday when it travels to Lake Charles to compete at the McNeese Cowboy Relays/Bob Hayes Louisiana Challenge at the Lena and Bill Henning Track and Field Complex.
 
Action begins at 9 a.m., with field events before running events start at noon. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com.
 
Louisiana joins host McNeese State in the meet that will include Division I schools New Orleans, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and ULM. Also competing in the meet are Dillard, East Texas Baptist, LeTourneau, Louisiana College, RK Athletics, U.S. Express and Wiley College.
 
The opening meet of the outdoor season will mark the debuts for over a dozen newcomers to the roster. Three members of the Ragin' Cajuns who earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors at last month's indoor championships – John Joseph (long jump, 4x200-meter relay), Graham Sokol (hammer throw) and Reagann Leleux (4x100-meter relay) – will each make their debuts for Louisiana.
 
India Brown (4x400-meter relay), Kaprecia Cowans (long jump, sprint medley relay, 4x100-meter relay), Lea-Marie Diedicke (shot put, javelin), Sydnea Guidry (400-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay) and Payton Phares (women's high jump) will each make their debuts in women's events for the Ragin' Cajuns.
 
Javelin throwers MacKenzie Marze and Claire Meyers are scheduled to make their 2019 debuts for Louisiana with senior Richard Delphin (hammer throw) set to compete in his final outdoor season.
 
62854On the men's side, Key Alfred (4x400-meter relay, 4x800-meter relay), Chancelor Bangura (sprint medley relay, 4x400-meter relay), Solomon Brent (4x400-meter relay, sprint medley relay), Tyrell Hargrove (4x400-meter relay, 4x800-meter relay), Terroll Jolla (sprint medley relay, 4x100-meter relay), Rashid Reese (1,500-meters, 4x400-meter relay), Rylan Theyard (4x200-meter relay, long jump) and Obdarius Ware (long jump, 4x100-meter relay) are all scheduled to compete for the first time during the outdoor season.
