@RaginCajunsWT Wraps Up West Coast Trip With 4-3 Loss At UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. – Louisiana Women's Tennis (5-6), finished its trip to the West Coast with a close, 4-3, loss to UC Irvine (11-3) on Tuesday afternoon at the Anteater Tennis Courts.
Freshman Ai Noa Fabre, who went 2-0 on the trip, won herself a match in singles and freshman Hoda Habib snagged herself a win as well, while sophomore Dana Radovanovic got a win in singles as well in a competitive match. The match was decided in doubles, attesting to the back-and-forth nature of the matchup.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Singles): The match began in singles, but a withdrawal by junior Marina Rodriguez Garcia at No. 3 singles meant that Louisiana began in a 1-0 hole. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Floriane Picaut dropped her match to Stephanie Nguyen in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 to put UCI up 2-0.
At No. 4 singles, Louisiana got on the board with a straight set, 6-2, 6-1, win from Radovanovic over Alyssia Fossorier. The Ragin' Cajuns tied things up at 2-2 with a win at No. 2 from Habib when she survived a tough match against Flora Amiri, winning 6-4, 7-6(6).
Fabre put Louisiana on the brink of victory with a comeback three-set win, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2, over Arianna Tilbury. After dropping the first set, Fabre dominated Tilbury over the next two sets to give Louisiana a 3-2 lead.
But UC Irvine would push the match to doubles when at No. 6, Jacqueline Tsodikova outlasted sophomore Morgan Forshag in a three-set showdown. Forshag took the first set, and in the second set the match was decided in a tiebreaker.
Forshag nearly wrapped up the win for Louisiana, but Tsodikova would take the second set tiebreaker and follow that up with a third set win to come away with a 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4 win to push the match to a deciding doubles point.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Doubles): In doubles, at No. 1, the UC Irvine duo of Stephanie Hazell and Flora won against Fabre and Habib, 6-3, to give the Anteaters the first win in doubles. At No. 2 UC Irvine wrapped up the match, but not without a strong fight from the Louisiana pairing of Picaut and freshman AK Harvey.
Picaut and Harvey pushed things to a tiebreaker, against the UC Irvine pairing of Danielle Garrido and Tsukiji, but the Anteaters' duo would hold off the charging Louisiana pairing to come away with a 7-6(5) win. The win at No. 2 doubles gave UC Irvine a 4-3 win to wrap up Louisiana trip to the West Coast.
UP NEXT FOR THE CAJUNS: Louisiana returns to Cajun Courts for the first true Sun Belt Conference match in conference history, when the Georgia Southern Eagles and Georgia State Panthers spend the weekend in Lafayette, La. The Eagles come to Cajun Courts on Friday, March 15 and the Panthers visit on Saturday, March 16 with both matches set to start at 10 a.m.
