Louisiana posts third straight below-par round; will compete at Jerry Weeks Match Play on April 1
LAKE CHARLES – Bjorn Gudjonsson recorded a 2-under par 70 and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team recorded its third straight round to finish with its lowest 54-hole score of the 2018-19 season on Tuesday during the final round of the Lake Charles Toyota Invitational at the Country Club at the Golden Nugget.
Louisiana, which posted team scores of 282 and 286 on Monday, came back with a 4-under 284 in the final round to finish in 10th place (12-under 852) in the 18-team field. First-day leader TCU, ranked No. 43 in the country, claimed the team title at 817 with a 15-stroke victory over 10th-ranked Texas Tech (832).
Micah Goulas (70-71-71-212), who recorded his best 54-hole performance for Louisiana, and Charlie Flynn (75-68-71-214) each carded rounds of 1-under par 71.
Senior Triston Elston (68-74-72-214), who eclipsed his previous best 54-hole performance (2-over 215) for the Ragin' Cajuns, posted an even-par 72 while Gudjonsson (71-75-70-216) turned in his best 54-hole performance of the season for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Cole Kendrick, playing in his second tournament of the season, posted his third straight round of 1-over 73 for the Ragin' Cajuns to finish at a career-low 219.
TCU's David Ravetto, one of two golfers in the 96-player field to finish all three rounds in the 60's, posted a 5-under 67 through the final 18 holes to finish at 19-under 197 and claim a six-shot victory over Texas Tech's Sandy Scott.
Louisiana will return to action on April 1 when it travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., to compete at the Jerry Weeks Match Play.
