BEST START SINCE 2014: Louisiana is off to its best start over 17 matches since starting the 2014 season 13-4, a season that eventually resulted in a Sun Belt Conference Championship and a 20-5 finishing record. Over Louisiana's first 17 matches, the highlights have been wins over BIG TEN member Nebraska, and a HEB Tournament of Champions title, the first in nine years for Louisiana.
NOTHING NEW: Louisiana getting a national ranking is nothing new and, including this season's ranking, it is the sixth time in the past 10 seasons that Louisiana has joining the rankings of the best programs in the country. Historically, this is the 18th time that Louisiana has earned a national ranking within the Top-75 at least one time during the season.Â
DOUBLES RANKING: The team is ranked, and so is one of Louisiana doubles pairings, with senior Arthur Libaud and junior Pearse Dolan carrying a No. 53 national ranking. They earned that ranking by taking down Northern Arizona's duo of Tim Handel and Ruben Montano, who at the time had a No. 27 national ranking, 6-3, on Feb. 16.
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Head Coach Mark Jeffrey)
"Reaching the national rankings is always one of our goals each year, and to place ourselves inside the Top-75 means that we are among the top 20 percent of all programs in Division I. I am extremely proud of the hard work our guys have put in and of the work by associate head coach Luc Godin.Â
"We are all working hard to get better each day and we hope to continue to climb up the rankings and eventually reach our goal of winning a conference championship."
