First time since 2014 Louisiana has had a doubles team ranked nationally
LAFAYETTE – After knocking off the No. 27 nationally ranked duo from Northern Arizona, the Louisiana Men's Tennis doubles team of senior Arthur Libaud and junior Pearse Dolan earned a national ranking of No. 53 in doubles, as part of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings that were released today, Feb. 20.
It is the first time for either Libaud and Dolan that they have been ranked nationally in either singles or doubles in each's respective careers. The Louisiana pair earned the ranking with a big win, 6-3, over Northern Arizona's doubles team of Tim Handel and Ruben Montano in the final match of the previous weekend's Ragin' Cajuns Invitational held on Feb. 16 at Cajun Courts.
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Senior Arthur Libaud):
"Pearse and I still have a lot of work to do, since in our own conference the nationally ranked No. 15 doubles pair is at South Alabama. But we are both honored and thankful for the recognition by the ITA."
(Head Coach Mark Jeffrey):
"I agree with Arthur that they still have work to be done, since we want to challenge for a conference title come April. But both Arthur and Pearse have worked hard and their win over a Top-30 nationally ranked duo was big for them and for the program."
