ABOUT LOUISIANA
Louisiana returned five starters from the 2017 season highlighted by three returning All-Sun Belt Conference performers in middle blocker Dree'Ana Abram, libero Sydney Davis and 2017 SBC Freshman of the Year Hali Wisnoskie.
The Ragin' Cajuns added a talented group of eight newcomers headlined by freshmen Kelsey Bennett (5-11, OH, Allen, Texas) and Desiree Johnson (5-11, RS, Forney, Texas) who have been inserted into the rotation. Louisiana is utilizing a 6-2 offense for the first time in the Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot era with setters Avery Breaux and Milayne Danna directing the offense.
2017 REWIND
The Ragin' Cajuns (21-11, 13-3 SBC in 2017) turned in the program's finest season of the Sun Belt Conference era (1991-present). During the 2017 season, the squad raced out to a school-record 7-0 start in league play, posted the first winning conference mark since 2002 and set the school record for conference wins. The reward was the program's highest seed ever (No. 3) in the SBC Tournament.
Head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot became Louisiana's all-time winningest coach, increasing her program-standard tally to 140 victories. Hali Wisnoskie became the first Ragin' Cajun to win Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors since 1998 and she represented Louisiana on the AVCA All-Midwest Region team.

COACH MAZEITIS-FONTENOT'S THOUGHTS
On the Sawyer Camillo Classic
"Our blocking remained intact and our offense ran at a pretty good clip. Every coach that we played could not believe the offensive agility we have and the amount of firepower that we have. We just have to fine-tune a few things.
For the second straight weekend we lost to our last match, so that gives us a little time for reflection. One of the things that I tell our team all the time is that there's winners and learners – and I rather be learning now than later on."
On Final Two Weekends of Pre-Conference Tournament Play
"We put these next two tournaments on our schedule because we're aiming to get our RPI where it needs to be so that we're looked at in the future for postseason play, and also to boost our conference's rating as well."
On the Progression of the 6-2 Offense
"Enthusiastic, is a right word. Our setters are doing a fine job and improving every single time we go out. We did sub in Hannah Henry against Houston and she was instrumental in us winning that third set because she changed what we were doing. That was really big, as it gives us a little bit of a different look."
