Louisiana Football kicks off in Starkville on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Football returns to the field Saturday to take on No. 16 Mississippi State, in Starkville, Mississippi, on Saturday, Sept. 15, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. After a bye week off and following the 49-17 season-opening win over Grambling, the Ragin' Cajuns match up against the Bulldogs for the first time since 1987.

FLIP ON ESPN2/TUNE INTO ESPN1420: Louisiana's game against Mississippi State, that was originally scheduled to be broadcast on the SEC Network Alternate, was moved to ESPN2 after several games were canceled or moved to different dates, due to Hurricane Florence making landfall on the eastern coast. The original broadcasting crew of Mark Neely (PxP), Barrett Jones (color) and Olivia Dekker (sideline) remains the same.

As for on the radio, the familiar voices of Jay Walker (PxP), Chris Lanaux (color) and Cody Junot (sideline) will call the game on ESPN1420 and KHXT 107.9 FM. For Walker, it will be the 296th Louisiana Football game he has called as he inches closer to the 300th-game milestone that he should reach on Oct. 13, when the Ragin' Cajuns host New Mexico State on Homecoming.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE: Louisiana and Mississippi State have only played each other three times in either program's history, with the last meeting being on Sept. 5, 1987. Louisiana has yet to defeat Mississippi State on the gridiron, but that could change this weekend as a win for Louisiana would not only be the first-ever against Mississippi State, but the school's first win against a current member of the Southeastern Conference (Texas A&M was not a member of the SEC when Louisiana beat them in 1996, Louisiana's lone win against a ranked opponent).

THREE UNBEATENS: Louisiana's first-year head coach Billy Napier got his first win as a head coach at any level in the Ragin' Cajuns' season opening win against Grambling. Among the seven head coaches across the Football Bowl Subdivision that are all in their first years as head coaches, Napier, along with UCF's Josh Heupel and Arizona State's Herm Edwards, are the last three remaining coaches that have yet to record a loss in their coaching careers.

Napier's win was special on another note because he became only the 12th head coach, out of 27 all-time head coaches in Louisiana history, to win his first game as the head coach of the Ragin' Cajuns. He was the first to do it since head coach Sam Robertson won his first game as the head man of the Cajuns back in 1980, a 14-12 win over New Mexico State (Sept. 6, 1980), and between Robertson's win and Napier's win, four head coaches failed to achieve the feat of winning their first game as head coach at Louisiana.

A 21-YEAR OLD RECORD FALLS: Senior quarterback Andre Nunez, who got the starting nod against Grambling, was extremely accurate during Louisiana's win against Grambling. In fact, his accuracy was record breaking, finishing with a completion percentage of 86.4 (19 for 22) which set a new school record for completion percentage in a single game.

Nunez broke a record that stood for 21 years, when in 1997 Lance Domec went 17 for 20 against Arkansas State on Oct. 4 to finish with a completion percentage of 85.0 that stood until Nunez broke it against Grambling.
