Louisiana adds five women to the 2018-19 roster
LAFAYETTE – With five women returning from the 2017-18 season, Louisiana Women's Tennis head coach Stephanie Vallejos announced the addition of five new women, bringing the 2018-19 Ragin' Cajuns squad up to ten for the upcoming season.
Â
FIVE NEW CAJUNS: Coach Vallejos spent the offseason working to strengthen Louisiana's lineup. Coach Vallejos and assistant coach Edit Suhajda's time on the recruiting trail resulted in the addition of Clara Mantaux, Ai Noa Fabre, Natalia Nassar, AK Harvey and Hoda Habib. Habib signed her National Letter of Intent back in November, but the remaining four new Cajuns all joined during the summer.
Â
Clara Mantaux (Jr.): Mantaux is the most experienced student-athlete joining Louisiana for the upcoming season. She is a five-foot-five, transfer from San Jose State and is originally from Montbeliard, France. Before coming to the United States, she was the 2012 Regional Champion and she won the Franche Comte Regional Championship in the 18-year old division.
Â
During her two seasons at San Jose State, Mantaux accumulated a 17-13 overall record in dual matches, going 8-6 in singles and 9-7 in doubles, playing primarily at the No. 6 spot for the Spartans. Her seven wins during the 2018 season led San Jose State and during the Mountain West Conference tournament quarterfinals she stormed back from a first set loss to beat Boise State's Nancy Menjivar, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(2).

Â
Ai Noa Fabre (Fr.): Noa Fabre hails from Vilvoorde, Belgium and she comes in at five-foot seven. Noa Fabre was a member of the Belgian National team and she was ranked in the top three in Belgium from 2009-17. During her time playing across Europe Noa Fabre reached a ranking as high of 155 in Tennis Europe's rankings.

Â
Hoda Habib (Fr.): Habib, who's five feet eight inches tall, comes from Houston, Texas and she competed in International Tennis Federation tournaments during the 2017 summer and she brings in a career high ITF ranking of 579. She's qualified for the Indoor Asian Olympic Games and she was a Tehran ITF finalist in singles and double.

Â
AK Harvey (Fr.): The lone student-athlete joining the squad who's from Louisiana, Harvey comes from Bossier City, Louisiana and she's five feet two inches tall. During her time in high school Harvey gained a top three ranking in the state of Louisiana in the 14, 16 and 18 and under age divisions. Harvey also filled up her trophy case winning a state championship in doubles.

Â
Natalia Nassar (Fr.): Much like Habib, Nassar comes from Houston and is five foot five inches tall. She had a solid high school career in Houston snagging herself three state championships in doubles and gaining a top 30 ranking in the state of Texas.

Â
FIVE FAMILIAR FACES: Coach Vallejos returns five members from last season's squad, juniors Marina Rodriguez Garcia and Milena Achlamov are back. Along with sophomores Floriane Picaut, Dana Radovanovic and Morgan Forshag filling out the 10 women roster that Louisiana brings into the season.
Â
EUROPEAN FLAVOR:Â With the additions of two more women that hail from outside the United States, Louisiana has kept up an international flavor with six of the ten women on the team coming from a European background.Â
Â
Mantaux joins Picaut, Radovanovic and Achlamov as the trio of French women on the team grows to a quad group. While Garcia comes from Spain and Noa Fabre is the sixth member of the team that's from Europe.
 Â
FALL STARTS SOON: Louisiana returns to the courts to begin their 2018 fall slate with a visit, for the second straight season, to Corpus Christi, Texas to take part in the Contender Crossfit Islander Open from Sept.14-16. Louisiana then hosts their lone home tournament of the fall season when, during the weekend of Sept. 28-29, Cajun Courts plays host to the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational. A visit to Oxford, Mississippi, from Oct. 12-14, to take part in the ITA Southern Regionals highlights the month of October.
