@RaginCajunsSB and Texas State to Meet in Sun Belt Championship

LAFAYETTE – 21st-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball is set to meet No. 23 Texas State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 in the championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Lamson Park.

The winner of the Ragin' Cajuns-Bobcats contest will receive the Sun Belt Conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament which begins with the regional round May 18-20.

Louisiana (38-13) advanced to Saturday's championship game with a 1-0 win over Texas State (41-14) in Friday's winner's bracket final that featured a no-hitter from Summer Ellyson. The Bobcats earned their spot in the contest by posting a 9-5 (9 inn.) win over Troy in an elimination game Friday evening.

The matchup will air on SportsRadio ESPN 1420-AM in the Acadiana region and the 1420 app worldwide with Steve Peloquin calling the action. Live video will be provided by an ESPN+ broadcast that features play-by-play from Drew Fellios and analysis from Francesca Enea.

It's the third straight season that Louisiana and Texas State meet in the Sun Belt Tournament championship game. The two squads matched up in the title game in 2016 in Mobile, Ala., and 2017 in Troy, Ala., with Louisiana claiming the victory both times.

The Ragin' Cajuns are appearing in the SBC Tournament championship game for the fifth straight season and 17th time in the 19-year history of the event.

The Ragin' Cajuns are seeking a third consecutive Sun Belt Tournament championship and the program's 15th title overall.

Saturday's contest marks the final one before the NCAA postseason begins. The NCAA Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for 9 p.m. (CDT) on Sunday live on ESPN2.
