Louisiana Golf Opens Spring Slate At Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team is set to open its spring slate on Monday as the squad tees off at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate hosted at the par 72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.

Play gets underway at 8 a.m. on Monday with a shotgun start. Teams will play 36 holes on the first day with the second round to follow immediately after the completion of the first round. The third and final round is slated for Tuesday at 8 a.m. with play starting off of holes one and ten.

Host South Alabama is joined by Abilene Christian, Central Arkansas, Florida State, Illinois State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls, Notre Dame, Oral Roberts, Richmond, Samford, Southern Miss and WKU in the 16-team field.

Florida State (29) Kennesaw State (46) come into the event ranked in the top 50 of the Golfstat rankings.

The Lineup

The Ragin' Cajuns will feature three true freshmen in the lineup as Bjorn Gudjonsson, Cole Kendrick and Justin Caldwell are joined by junior Triston Elston and sophomore Jack Tolson.

Elston leads Louisiana with a 73.33 scoring average through four tournaments, while both Tolson and Caldwell have posted rounds in the 60s this year.

The Cajuns return to action on Feb. 26-27 as they host the 33rd annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club. The Louisiana Classics is free to the public.
