LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball announced, on Thursday, Nov. 15, the signing of three women from the state of Louisiana, to National Letters of Intent for the 2019-20 season.
Louisiana brings in two guards and one forward, all of which that have received post-season honors and have been a part of successful high school teams. With the addition of three women from Louisiana, the Ragin' Cajuns will have 11 players on the 2019-20 squad from the state of Louisiana.
"The 2019 class will be a great addition to the talented players that are already a part of what we have here at Louisiana," said Louisiana head coach Garry Brodhead. "As a staff we are pleased with the talent we are bringing in, but also with the character that these young women have and we know they will be a great part of the Lafayette community."
Â
Alex Goodly, 5'4", G (St. Louis High School, Lake Charles, La.): Goodly comes to Louisiana from Lake Charles, La., and she was named Honorable Mention on the Class 3A Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-State Team following the 2016-17 season. While at St. Louis High School, Goodly was a part of a quarterfinals run in the 2018 Division II Louisiana Girls Basketball Playoffs, beating current Louisiana sophomore Skyler Goodwin's Parkview Baptist in the Regional round. Goodly should add depth and scoring for Louisiana in the backcourt when she comes to Lafayette, La., starting in the 2019-20 season.
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Head Coach Garry Brodhead)
"Goodly brings the ability to score for us, as well as being a true point guard. It will help strength out back court and make our offense that much more dangerous."
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Head Coach Garry Brodhead)
"Wren has the toughness we are looking for, and she has the ability to control the glass on both sides of the floor. It will give us a weapon that should help our offense and defense as a rebounder, which is important in the Sun Belt Conference to be successful."
QUOTEWORTHY:
(Head Coach Garry Brodhead)
"Hallmon is extremely athletic and is explosive off the bounce. She is a guard that brings the ability to score but also the ability to defend as well, and for us defending is important and it makes Hallmon a complete player and option for us going forward."
