LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Football senior kicker Kyle Pfau (Klein, Texas) was perfect on two field goals against Arkansas State, on Oct. 27, including a career-long 52-yard kick. The thundering 52-yard boot is the longest kick by anyone in the Sun Belt Conference so far this season, to earn Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, as Louisiana beat Arkansas State, 47-43.
THIRD TIME THIS SEASON:Â For the first time since 2014, Louisiana had its third player selected as an SBC Player of the Week, with Pfau joining sophomore Elijah Mitchell (Oct. 8) and senior Andre Nunez (Oct. 15). It is the first time since last season, when Raymond Calais was named the SBC Special Teams Player of the Week following Louisiana's Week One win.
PFAU BOOTS IT A LONG WAY:Â Pfau's 52-yard field goal, a career-long, was the seventh-longest field goal in school history and the longest field goal since 2012 when Bret Baer hit a 52-yard field goal to win the 2012 R+L New Orleans Carrier Bowl against San Diego State. Pfau's kick was the fourth-longest field kicked over the weekend in the FBS and ranked Pfau in the top-25 for longest kick this year by anyone in the FBS.
