Cajuns Baseball Players Wrap Up Summer Period

LAFAYETTE, La. - With the summer winding down, several of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball players are closing out their summer campaigns in preparation for the 2017 season. Senior Steven Sensley highlighted the action over the summer as he was named both the Alaska Baseball League Player of the Year and Silver Slugger.
 
Sensley, who played with the Anchorage Bucs of the ABL was one of three Cajuns to be named to an all-star team this summer joining Gunner Leger, Logan Stoelke and Jack Burk.
 
Sensley hit .305 in 39 games overall, led the ABL in home runs (6) and slugging percentage (.531), and tied for first in extra base hits (16). He was also second in the league in RBIs (27) and on-base-slugging percentage (.915), and stole seven bases.
 
Leger finished the summer with a 0.42 ERA in seven appearances including three starts for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League. The Lake Charles, La., native did not allow an earned run in his first 14 innings of work and allowed just one earned run in 21.0 innings with one walk and 29 strikeouts.  
 
Sophomore Hogan Harris has thrown 14.2 innings for the Gatemen and has a 1-0 record in six appearances including four starts. Harris has struck out 18 on the summer.
 
Stoelke was a two-way player for the Anchorage Bucs and hit .222 with a double, home run and five RBI while posting 1-1 record in five appearances on the mound before suffering an injury. The right-hander struck out 14 in 14.2 innings of work and had a 1.84 ERA.
 
Ishmael Edwards had a good summer with the Brockton Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League hitting a team-best .330 in 30 games with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs and 11 RBI. Edwards scored 21 times and swiped 18 bases while slugging .472 with a .438 on base percentage.
 
Over in the MINK League, freshman red-shirt Jack Burk has registered a 2-1 record with a save in seven appearances including three starts for the Nevada Griffons. Burk has a 1.40 ERA in 25.2 innings with 28 strikeouts and just four walks.
 
Dylon Poncho hit .360 in limited action for the Acadiana Cane Cutter of the Texas Collegiate League. Poncho posted 18 hits with a home run and eight RBI in 14 games.
