Leleux Advances To Finals At U.S. Olympic Trials

New Iberia native to compete for spot in Rio on Sunday

EUGENE, Ore. - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns All-American Morgann Leleux moved one step closer to earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team as she posted a mark of 14 feet, 3 1/4 inches to finish in 11th place in the women's pole vault at the U.S Olympic Trials on Friday at Hayward Field.

Leleux, who finished second overall last month during the NCAA Championships held at the same venue, moved on to Sunday's final after clearing the bar on her first attempt before missing at 14-5 1/4.

Jenn Suhr of Adidas qualified for the finals after clearing the bar at 14-9. Nine athletes cleared 14-5 1/4 and moved onto Sunday's final at 4:30 p.m. CDT.
