LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Volleyball head coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot announced on Wednesday the signing of Dree'Ana Abram to a National Letter of Intent to play volleyball beginning in the 2016 season.
Â
Abram is the third addition to the Ragin' Cajuns roster for the upcoming 2016 campaign.
Â
The 6-2 middle blocker from Creekview High School in Carrolton, Texas, joins Faith Bolin (Wylie, Texas/Wylie HS) who was added in November's early signing period and Katherine Young (Baton Rouge, La./St. Joseph's Academy) who transferred from Radford in January on the list of newcomers.
Â
"She (Abram) will step in nicely and add depth to the middle immediately," Mazeitis-Fontenot said. "She has size and speed and is exactly what we were looking for when building for the future. We are very excited and are anticipating her to have a tremendous future."
Â
Abram has been an all-district performer each of the past two seasons. She capped her senior season at Creekview with a second straight first team All-District 11-5A selection and was named the team's MVP.
Â
Abram accrued 153 kills during her senior campaign for the Mustangs. She posted 30 blocks – the second straight season with 20-plus blocks.
Â
She was named Attacker of the Year as a junior in 2014 after throwing down 178 kills in 82 sets on a .206 attack percentage.
Â
Abram was a food shelter volunteer in 2014 and 2015, Dash for Dignity volunteer in 2015 and is currently a volunteer helper at Rainwater Elementary.
