Ragin' Cajuns Conclude Fall Schedule In Hammond

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team concludes its fall season beginning Friday when it competes at the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

Louisiana will be joined in the three-day, round-robin tournament by host SLU, Alcorn State, LSU Alexandria, McNeese State and New Orleans. Each match will be played in dual-match format with four singles and one doubles match.

The Ragin' Cajuns will open play on Friday when they face UNO at 4 p.m. Louisiana will compete twice on Saturday facing LSU Alexandria at 8:30 a.m., and Alcorn State at 11:30 a.m., before battling McNeese State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and SLU in the finale at 2:30 p.m.

Louisiana's freshmen trio of Lucile Delabarre, India Shiaelis and Marina Rodriguez Garcia have combined to post a 14-8 record in singles play during the fall with Delabarre and Shiaelis each earning five wins in three events. Garcia has posted a 4-4 record in singles play this fall for the Ragin' Cajuns with Carla Ortega posting a 3-2 mark.

Three tandems have posted a 2-1 record in doubles play with Delabarre and Shiaelis claiming their last two matches and joined by Garcia and Abby Johnson, along with Elena Sava and Alexandra Way.
