Sinclair Leads In Heptathlon After First Day At A-State Invite

Fusilier, Moreau finish 2-3 in pentathlon; Carter finishes second in 200-meter dash
JONESBORO, Ark. - Transfer Angus Sinclair held the lead after the first day in the men's heptathlon while Jasmin Fusilier and Kaitlyn Moreau each earned a pair of top-three finishes in the women's pentathlon to help pace the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team at the A-State Invitational that began on Friday at the Convocation Center.
The meet will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the completion of the men's heptathlon (55-meter hurdles, pole vault, 1,000-meter run). The field events are set to begin at 10 a.m., with preliminary running events at 11:30 and finals at 2 p.m. Live results of the two-day meet are available at RaginCajuns.com
Sinclair, a transfer from Mount Olive (N.C.) College, claimed the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 3 inches, finished second in the 55-meter dash (6.82) and tied for first with teammate Franz Beyer in the long jump (21-10 3/4) to score 2,940 points through the first four events and hold a 75-point lead over A-State's Clint Ligon. Beyer, who finished the first day in third place in the event (2,805), finished second overall in the high jump (6-7 1/2). Freshman Kaden Frasier was fifth after four events with 2,396 points, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 55-meter dash (6.97).
Fusilier finished second overall for the Ragin' Cajuns, scoring a total of 3,548 points to finish behind A-State's Samone Thompson (3,719). Fusilier claimed first-place finishes in both the 55-meter hurdles (8.17) and the long jump (18-10 1/2) with Moreau placing third overall (3,414) that was paced by a first-place finish in the shot put (39-8 1/2) and third-place finishes in both the long jump (17-11 3/4) and 55-meter hurdles (8.45). Newcomer Alex Morrow (2,965) and Alexandra Harrell (2,956) finished seventh and eighth, respectively for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Richard Delphin posted a second-place finish in the men's weight throw for the Ragin' Cajuns, posting a career-best mark of 55-11. Hanoj Carter, competing in the men's 200-meter dash, finished second overall with a time of 21.94 seconds.
Junior college transfer Tisay Woodhouse posted a season-best in the women's weight throw, as she finished sixth overall with a mark of 55-6.
