Â
Louisiana (32-5, 15-3 Sun Belt) advanced one spot to No. 9 in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, up from last week's No. 10 ranking. The Cajuns are in the Top 10 of the NFCA poll for a second straight week and ninth time in 10 weeks, overall.
Â
By remaining at No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, Louisiana was a part of the Top 10 in the poll for the 10th straight week since the start of the season.
Â
A 10th straight week in the Top 10 of the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll (Feb. 10-Apr. 14) marks the program's longest stretch in that specific poll, besting the previous-high of nine straight weeks set in 2012 (March 12-May 7).
Â
The current stretch of 10 consecutive weeks in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll's Top 10 ties the school record for consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of either poll set in 2012 in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll (March 6-May 15).
Â
The Ragin' Cajuns, preseason ranked No. 9 in both polls, have been as high as No. 5 in the NFCA listing (Feb. 24) and No. 6 in ESPN/USA Softball (Feb. 24).
Â
Louisiana is joined in the Top 10 of the USA Today/NFCA poll by four SEC schools (LSU, Florida, Alabama, Auburn), two Pac-12 schools (Oregon, UCLA), Michigan (Big 10), Oklahoma (Big 12) and Florida State (ACC).
Â
In addition to the Cajuns, the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 poll consists of four SEC schools (LSU, Florida, Alabama, Auburn), two Pac-12 schools (Oregon, UCLA), two Big 10 schools (Michigan, Minnesota) and Oklahoma (Big 12).
Â
No. 9/9 Louisiana is scheduled to face No. 1/2 Oregon in Eugene, Ore., in a three-game series Friday-Saturday, April 24-25.
Â
Last Saturday, the Cajuns swept a doubleheader from then-No. 14/13 Baylor at Lamson Park 3-1, 12-2 (5 inn.) to improve to 5-3 vs. ranked foes in 2015.
Â
Up next, the Cajuns conclude the home portion of the regular season schedule hosting Houston on Wednesday, April 15 in a 6 p.m., single game at Lamson Park. The Cajuns then return to Sun Belt Conference play in Boone, N.C., visiting Appalachian State for a series Saturday-Sunday, April 18-19.
