Ragin’ Cajuns Golf Sits In 12th At Bayou City Collegiate Championship

HUMBLE, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns posted an opening round score of 13-over par (301) to finish in 12th place after 18 holes at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship hosted at the Golf Club of Houston.

With the forecast calling for inclement weather on both Saturday and Sunday, the teams played a portion of the second round on Friday afternoon.

The second round will resume at 7:30 a.m., Saturday. Following the completion of the second round, teams will team a short break before starting third round play.

No. 38 Arkansas holds the opening round lead carding a score of even par (288), while No. 9 South Carolina is two strokes back in second at 2-over (290). Charlotte (+3, 291), No. 30 Houston (+5, 293), McNeese State (+6, 294), UTSA (+6, 294) and Troy (+6, 294) round out the top five teams.

Will Murphy of South Carolina sits atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under (69).

Sophomore Fernando Cruz Valle paces the Ragin' Cajuns with a score of 1-over (73) as he finished the first round in a tie for 20th.

Haraldur Magnus is currently in a tie for 40th at 3-over (75) and Christian Verrougstrate is one stroke back in a tie for 50th.

Thomas Strandemo carded a score of 5-over (77) in his first round back in the lineup to end up in a tie for 59th, while Louis Kelly rounded out the Cajuns lineup in a tie for 84th at 12-over (84).
